Restaurant features (Mobile POS, Pre-cashups, Kitchen Orders, Smart Lodging)
Use this page when you run a restaurant and need to find the till-side screens that only exist on the Restaurant POS App — Mobile POS, Pre-cashups, Kitchen Orders, and Smart Lodging.
Goal
You need to use a till-side feature that only exists on the Restaurant POS App, and find the page that explains it in detail.
Where this happens
- On the till (Restaurant POS App): every screen on this page lives on the till home screen or drawer.
- In the back office (Core App): configuration and reconciliation of these features happens under Stock Management, Customer Management, and Finance & Admin → Financial Management.
Restaurant features are part of the Restaurant POS App. The Retail POS App does not include them.
Prerequisites
- You are signed in to the Restaurant POS App.
- The store is set up as a restaurant (the POS layout switches to restaurant mode automatically).
- Your franchise has the relevant add-ons enabled (Kitchen Orders, Smart Lodging).
Restaurant features — at a glance
Mobile POS
The Mobile POS view is a touch-optimised layout for floor staff using a tablet or phone to take orders at the table. Use it to:
- Open a table, take the order, and send it to the kitchen from the floor.
- Add modifiers (cooking instructions) on the spot.
- Split the bill or close the table from the floor.
Full how-to: there is no dedicated wiki page; the till layout is the same as the regular POS with a touch-first bottom nav. See Sales for the order flow and Tables for split and merge.
Pre-cashups
A pre-cashup is what a restaurant does at the end of a shift before the formal cash-up. It usually means:
- Counting the cash drawer.
- Reconciling the till receipts against the day's expected totals.
- Preparing the cash-up sheet for the supervisor.
The pre-cashup happens on the till; the formal cash-up is then completed by the supervisor in the Core App at Till Management → Store Cashups. See Cash-up & finance for the full day-end flow.
Kitchen Orders
The Kitchen Orders screen (KDS — kitchen display system) is what the chef sees on the kitchen display. Tickets appear in real time as the front-of-house rings orders, with the modifier text and the time the order has been waiting.
Full how-to: Kitchen Orders.
Smart Lodging
Smart Lodging lets a hotel or lodge charge food, drinks, and other services from the till directly to a guest's room folio. Payment is taken at check-out.
Full how-to: Smart Lodging.
Expected result
- You know which till-side screen to open for each restaurant feature.
- The full how-to is one click away.
Edge cases
- The Mobile POS / Kitchen Orders / Smart Lodging screen is missing on the till. Your franchise may not have the add-on enabled, or your role may not have permission; ask your supervisor.
- Pre-cashup totals do not match the till. Recount the drawer, check each payment type separately, and never change figures to hide a variance. See Cash-up & finance.
- The kitchen display is offline. Tickets buffer on the till and resync when the connection returns.
